Two weeks from today is the first annual Lincoln City Half Marathon. It is on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 9.00 a.m. at Voris Field at Taft High School. The entry fee is between $35-$45. You can register online. The course is an out-and-back, mainly on paved road with a little bit of gravel. Event organizers mention one hill that runners will see on the way out and the way in, but for the most part, this will be a flat, fast race. For those not into sports Lincoln City Libraries are also holding an Annual Bookmark Contest. Kids in preschool through eighth grade are invited to compete in this annual contest! The deadline for submissions is March 31.
You can become a Summer Reading Volunteer If you will be entering grades 6 through 8 in the fall, you can volunteer to help with the Summer Reading Program! Applications will be taken starting April 15. The adult annual spelling bee is on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. You can also apply for this summer writing workshops by April 15th.
